The Fresh Prince Spread [11 Mar 2009|03:42am]

[ mood | amused ]

So. I am officially insane.

1) How my life got flipped-turned upside down. This card is laid sideways, and shows what brought you to this point.
2) Where I spent most of my days. This card shows what you've been doing in the past.
3) Trouble in my neighborhood. This card represents the problems that have come up for you, sources of change.
4) Looked at my kingdom. This one shows what you can do to fix things.

And I'm including the reading I did, because I'm not really happy with how I described the card positions, but I think this helps...

1. Nine of Pentacles: I've been really selfish in my actions lately, especially with how I've spent my money. I haven't really thought beyond what will make me happy and what will keep me satisfied.

2. Knight of Cups: I've been living in my own daydream world, where I imagine all these wonderful things, but I never actually get out there and go for it.

3. Page of Wands: Lately I've been after something more. I want to try new things and maybe even have some real fun in life, and not just dream about doing it.

4. Judgment: I need to take an honest look at what I'm doing with my life and not be afraid to leave behind what isn't helping me move forward.

You can also add a 5th card to this spread, which I would place by card 3, turning into the following:

5) I was finally there! Where you'll be if you follow the advice in card four (or, alternately, if you don't. You can change that.)

5. The Tower: It might not be easy to make these changes, but if I can do it, I'll be setting myself free from the prison I feel as though I've put myself in.

So yeah! Thoughts? Suggestions? The idea behind the layout is to show a winking face...I don't know what made me think I should make this spread...If someone sees my mind laying around anywhere, I'd like it back please!

Sprucing Up [14 Jul 2006|03:25pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

I've added all the posts to the memories and removed deleted members...

The good thing about this community is that even if it doesn't get update often, it's still useful, so I decided to go ahead and actually work with that...but I really do believe in the idea of this community, so I'm going to try and post some new spreads, and I hope you guys will do the same!

[Spread] Fairy Tale Spreads: The Ugly Duckling [28 May 2006|02:58pm]

I am doing a series of spreads based on popular and not-so-popular fairy tales. My point is to give the querent a familiar setting with which to explore unfamiliar feelings. If you try this, will you let me know how it goes? Thanks! Feedback is always welcome! Read more...Collapse )

Budding relationship spread idea [13 Apr 2006|09:26pm]
Guh... hmm, been a while since anyone posted anything here. o.O Anyway.

I'm a novice reader--tarot is more of a fascination or hobby for me, so I don't tend to do more than perhaps a reading a month--but still, I found myself today wanting to look deeper into a relationship of mine. I know there are gobs of relationship spreads out there already, but me being the n00b I am, the only spread I really know without reading off a page is the standard celtic cross, and I wanted to see this relationship from two different perspectives. Mine... his... what draws us together, what pulls us away? So I took some elements I liked of the celtic cross and threw this together. I'd appreciate input or thoughts. I'm sure anyone who uses the cross at all will recognize most of my formation here, but I wanted to orient it to two people and how they feel about each other. It seems to be best used for newly-forming relationships or those in a big transitionary period, where things seem a little uncertain.

I arbitrarily made the left side me and the right side my man (;-P), so I'll refer to the two people/sides as she and he respectively, but this can obviously be just as arbitrarily switched around. The 1|2 and 3|4 are supposed to be crossed, like the first two cards of the celtic cross.

     11 12

 5 1|2 7 14 8 3|4 6

     9 10

1- Who is she? What is she "all about"?
2- What is she dealing with right now? What's causing her difficulty/what's her general life situation?
3- Who is he? What is he "all about"?
4- What is he dealing with right now? What's causing him difficulty/what's his general life situation?
5- What pulls her away from him? What holds her back?
6- What pulls him away from her? What holds him back?
7- What pulls her to him? Why does she want this relationship?
8- What pulls him to her? Why does he want this relationship?
9- What's nagging at her mind about this--REALLY--that maybe even she won't admit to or doesn't even know?
10- What's nagging at his mind about this--REALLY--that maybe even he won't admit to or doesn't even know?
11- Where does she feel like this is going?
12- Where does he feel like this is going?
13- On what foundation is this relationship built?
14- What's the central dynamic of the relationship? It's all well and good to contemplate each person's own feelings, but how do these two people work together?
15- What should be kept in mind as this relationship progresses?

'course, now that I've laid my cards down, I'm shaking my head at myself for thinking I have the objectivity to actually read them half-decently... but I still thought I'd share the spread. ^^

The Fairy Tale Tarot [22 Oct 2005|01:56pm]

Have you seen this deck yet? Not released yet although they do have a few copies. I MUST have these for my Fairy Tale Tarot Spreads project!

The artwork on the webpage is entrancing. I love the old European flavor of the images. The colors leap out from the cards but aren't overly bright. The fairy tales they use are familiar and unfamiliar which greatly appeals to me. There is even Gawain and the Green Knight!

DROOL DROOL DROOL! This takes precedence on my must-have list OVER the Tarot of Dreams.

New Study Group [04 Apr 2005|11:32pm]

Hello there.

I have created a new tarot-specific study group where a card will be selected per day and it's traditional info will be given, alongside various different images of the card. It is then encouraged that you comment on your personal feelings, emotions, meanings etc of the selected card.

I hope this is a good idea, and that it will help us all to become more familiar with the cards.

Apologies for cross-posting/advertising if not allowed.

Using spreads to create stories and characters [22 Mar 2005|07:24pm]

This is mostly a personal oh-look-I-did-something-cool-let-me-write-it-down thing, but since it involves the use of tarot and various spreads heavily, I thought the rest of you might be interested in it.

I enjoy roleplaying. Star Trek roleplaying, to be specific. My usual fare involves a simple process of laying out a few cards (I would often use the Tarot Characters spread that this website posted from Kathleen Olmstead's The Girl's Guide to Tarot) in order to get a basic sense of my character's personality. This time, however, I signed up for a group that requires quite a bit more background, memories, very specific events and nuances of personality, the works. Rather than be uncreative and transplant myself as most people seem to do, I used several different spreads to create a believable but unique character... unique among my usuals, anyway.

A few more details, if the idea of using many, many cards to create a Star Trek character interests you.Collapse )

All in all, it's worked out quite well. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to use this character, because the depth I got for the character is a bit much to easily summarize on a character biography form. ^.^;; I can't wait until I get the time to start working with her, though. Once she's written up, I can post specifics if anyone's interested, even though I was a bit liberal (and sometimes overly literal) with the card meanings. Regardless, I figured you all might be interested in some "different" uses for some of the spreads here. And if you didn't read behind the LJ cut because this topic just doesn't interest you, the only new spreads I'm contributing here are the Tarot Characters spread and two other spreads here meant specifically for character creation.

Feedback welcome.

Spread of the Week [18 Mar 2005|11:39am]

Well, we're taking a break from SotW, not only because there haven't been any new spreads posted recently, but also because I've been so busy this week, it'd be nice to not have to worry about anything until next Wednesday! So hopefully some new spreads will make their way here soon, and next week won't be so hectic!

Spread help? [09 Mar 2005|11:54am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Well, I've designed this spread for helping with my writer's block, but I think it would also work well with any situation where you feel like you're unable to move forward. However, I think I need a bit of help on the spread positions...

The Brick Wall SpreadCollapse )

I'm just having some problems clearly defining what the positions should be, namely position 3. Any input, suggestions, and/or feedback are very much appreciated!
